Despacho is a ceremonial offering traditionally performed by Q’ero shamans of Peru. The shamans of the Q’ero lineage of Peru have used the Despacho for a wide variety of occasions.
What is a Despacho?
A Despacho is an offering to the spirit world. It is a prayer bundle that the Indigenous people of Peru have used for various purposes, such as:
- Honoring important life events, such as births and deaths.
- Healing health or mental issues.
- Restoring balance and reciprocity between individuals, communities, and the natural world.
- Making a specific request to the Spirit world.
When to do a Despacho?
This beautiful offering and ceremony are supplemental to the healing sessions and bring rapid transformation and profound healing.

Ingredients
Despachos include a variety of natural and symbolic items.
The common ingredients and their representation are the following:
- Sugar: Represents sweetness and love.
- Red and white carnations: The red carnations represent the earth and the white the mountains.
- Open shell: Represents the womb of the Earth.
- Rice: Represents fertility and prosperity.
- Grains and corn: Represent sustenance.
- Raisins: For honoring the Spirits of our ancestors.
- Chocolate: For honoring Mother Earth.
- Sage or other incense: For honoring all the elements of our Earth.
- Flower petals: Representing our requests for harmony and healing.
Ceremony
The ceremony involves the preparation of the Despacho and a fire ceremony where the offering is burned.
As a Shaman certified by The Four Winds (Dr. Alberto Villoldo), I am trained to conduct Despacho ceremonies.
The ceremony lasts approximately 75 minutes, costs €120 (approximately $125, or £105), and is conducted without your active participation.
Notes:
- The offering preparation and the fire ceremony are conducted offline, without your active participation, at the selected date and time.
- During the time of the ceremony, you are free to do anything you want, as your involvement is not required.
- After the ceremony, I will share a few images of the Despacho with you for your records.
